The father of the radio is often said to be Marconi, however the radio was not invented by any one person. The radio actually draws on the research and inventions of a number of people. There are three main phases of development for the radio.
Experimentation with electromagnetic waves carried out by Thomas Edison was the start of the radio. Wireless communication and ultimately commercialism of the product provided us with what we know as the radio today. The people who contributed to the radio are:
- Thomas Edison
- Nikola Tesla
- Guglielmo Marconi
